FAQs

Q: I’ve never played before. Can I try it out?

A: Absolutely! Our Club’s dedicated coaches are available every Saturday morning from 9am – 11am to help new players get started. Just bring a pair of flat-soled shoes (to protect the greens) and you’ll be having loads of fun in no time.

Q: I don’t have my own bowls. Can I still play?

A: Of course! There are always extra sets of bowls available at the Club and the coach on duty will ensure that you can play even if you don’t have your own bowls.

Q: What is the dress code?

A: First-time players at the Saturday morning clinics can wear any comfortable clothes, as long as you wear flat-soled shoes. However, when playing competitions and “tabs-in” games, “whites” or club colours are required.

Q: What are your yearly membership fees?

A: Depending on the type of membership you are applying for, yearly fees vary. Fees include the Bowls South Africa affiliation fees. For the latest fees, please contact our Club Secretary Leonie Taljaard at cipleonie@mweb.co.za

Q: What types of memberships are available?

A: The types of memberships include Ordinary Members, Associate Members, Honorary Members, Honorary Life Members, Social Members, Temporary Members and Junior Members.

Q: How do I join?

A: Download and complete the application form from the Downloads section on the right. Then e-mail it to our Club Secretary Leonie Taljaard at cipleonie@mweb.co.za who will further liaise with you.

Q: Can I join as just a Social Member?

A: Definitely. The Club is open Mondays to Fridays from 4.30pm onwards for socialising, along with the bowls.

Q: When is your “season” for playing bowls?

A: Our season starts on 1 September and ends on 31 August the following year. Bowls are generally played all year round in South Africa.

Q: When do you normally play “tabs-in” games?

A: Tabs-in games are normally played on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 2pm – 5pm. Tabs must be in at least 15min before start of play.  Currently all Tabs-in games must be booked beforehand. Please contact our Club Secretary Leonie Taljaard at cipleonie@mweb.co.za for details.
